The Underground School

Welcome to the history resistance!
Lessons on Freedom - Extension

What is the Underground School?

#LessonsOnFreedom by The Underground School is a course designed to explore
the intricate and critical stories of African people who became African American
on United States soil. This story will explore West African History and Culture, the
Transatlantic Slave Trade, the Peculiar Institution of Slavery and how it developed
differently depending on where enslaved populations were located. Equally
important, this course is filled with vibrant dialogue centering resilience,
emancipation, and ways in which we continue to maintain freedom, justice, and
equality. This is not just a class. It is also a “North Star” conversation that will
open and dissect the topics that we often do not feel at liberty to discuss without
judgement. Here, there is no judgement.

Who is it for?

Everyone who wants to expand their minds.

Why it's needed

The Underground School
#EmancipationEdition is meant to enlighten, educate, and celebrate the legacy of
the ancestors and to help preserve those stories by continuing to shape our own
for ourselves and future generations.

About the Founder

Dr. Tiffany PackerIn 2012, Dr. Packer became the FIRST African American to complete a Ph.D. in History from UNC-Greensboro. She has since been continuing blazing trails in academia for the past 15 years. She was most recently named Florida A&M University's 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year! This is one of her proudest accomplishments, considering FAMU is where Dr. Packer completed her undergraduate studies. Her goals have always been centered around helping students elevate while igniting the fire inside them that they didn't even know existed! I'm ready to take my skills and talents to new heights by empowering others in blazing their own trails in academia.
